On March 12, it was revealed by Shams Charania of The Athletic that the NBA has canceled the 2020 G League Elite Camp. The event was scheduled for May 17-19.
The G League Elite Camp typically runs over three-days and gives prospects eligible for the NBA Draft an opportunity to impress in front of NBA and G League scouts, coaches, and front-office executives. A select number of players are invited to participate in the NBA Draft Combine.
The event also hosts top G League prospects from the previous season, in an attempt to make the NBA. Both groups of players are split into two groups of 40. Separately they participate in a range of training drills and five-on-five games.
Last year, the G League players attended the first two days of the camp, and the draft prospects attended days two and three. Although, both sets of players don’t overlap.
Five players were drafted from the 2019 G League Elite Camp:
- Cody Martin (Charlotte Hornets)
- Terance Mann (Los Angeles Clippers)
- Justin Wright-Foreman (Utah Jazz)
- Dewan Hernandez (Toronto Raptors)
- Marial Shayok (Philadelphia 76ers)
