On July 15, it was announced by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, that Jonathan Kuminga would be passing up on college to join the NBA G League select team.
The 17-year-old has reclassified to the 2020 high school class. In a move that sees him join the professional pathway program. Alongside fellow prospects Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, and Kai Sotto.
Charania has reported that Kuminga will earn around $500,000. The finances of each prospect differs, but Kuminga’s deal is expected to be in the higher bracket. It is believed that additional funds can be earned through appearances, development duties, and community initiatives. He can acquire endorsement deals on-top of his base salary also.
Jonathan Kuminga is a potential number 1 pick for the 2021 NBA Draft, and is locked into the top-5 of pretty much every mock draft out there.
With the acquisition, the G League now have two potential top-5 draft picks in the 2021 draft, in Kuminga and Jalen Green.
