Bubble Review: DaQuan Jeffries, Sacramento Kings

As the 2019-20 NBA season resumed in Orlando, a host of teams battling for postseason action traveled into the bubble. Among those, two-way players who have spent the majority of the season in the G League. As well as players who have been subject to straight NBA call-ups.

The Sacramento Kings were one of the teams in the Western Conference looking to go on a winning streak to sneak into the playoffs. On the roster, was two-way rookie DaQuan Jeffries.

The 22-year-old guard/wing had featured in 27 G League contests for the Stockton Kings in the 2019-20 season. Averaging 16.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 steals. On December 13, Jeffries scored a career-high 44 points in a win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Prior to the NBA bubble, Jeffries had only played in 5 games for the Sacramento Kings. However, he was much more present over the past month.

He appeared in 7 contests (17 MPG) for the Kings, with averages of 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds. On 56% shooting from the field. Including impressive outings against the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets, where he scored 12 points and 13 points, respectively.

Against the Magic, he shot perfectly from the field (5-5) and 3-point range (2-2). Whilst also tallying 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. His points total (13) against the Rockets was a career-high, as was the amount of minutes he played (30).

Luke Walton’s Sacramento Kings went 3-5 during the NBA restart and missed out on the Western Conference playoffs by 3 games. With an overall record of 31-41.
