Reggie Hearn to Join G League Ignite as the First Veteran

As per Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com, Reggie Hearn is to join NBA G League Ignite as the team’s first veteran signing for the 2020-21 season.

29-year-old Hearn, who has played 271 games in the G League, last showed out for the South Bay Lakers in the cut-short 2019-20 campaign. Prior to that, he suited up for the Stockton Kings, Grand Rapids Drive, Reno Bighorns, and Idaho Stampede.

The G League Ignite team acts as an elite prospect team and is not affiliated to an NBA franchise. It will operate outside of the traditional G League structure and will play approximately 10-12 games in it’s condensed season. Additional exhibition games are expected to be played against overseas national teams and NBA academies.

The Ignite roster currently consists of prospects Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd, Daishen Nix, Kai Sotto, Jonathan Kuminga, and Princepal Singh. All of which are touted to be top selections in the 2021 NBA Draft. With Green and Kuminga heavily believed to be top-5 picks.

Professional, veteran players, like Hearn, are to join the roster alongside the youngsters. This is in a bid to provide Green, Kuminga, and Co with professional coaching and training. All led by Head Coach and 5-time NBA Champion (3 as a player, 2 as a coach), Brian Shaw.
