G League Ignite to Face-off Against G League Alumni

A recent report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, has suggested that the NBA G League are planning to have the Ignite team face-off against G League alumni between Nov 15-22.

Charania states that the games will be closed-door scrimmages, out of the Ignite’s base in Walnut Creek, CA. Furthermore, there will be two scrimmages in December that will be streamed to the public.

Whether the public will get a glimpse of the Ignite team in the November scrimmages remains to be seen. While the games will be “closed-door”, fans will be hoping to see highlights and clips of the contests.

Either way, it appears that Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Co will definitely be on full display in December.

A start date for the G League season is unknown at present time. NBA Call-Ups understands that an agents meeting occurred on Friday November 13, so talks are certainly underway behind the scenes. With the NBA season set for a December 22 start.

The traditional G League season start aside, the league seem motivated to get the Ignite team for elite prospects some game time while the wait continues.

This comes following the announcement of Amir JohnsonBobby Brown, and Brandon Ashley joining Ignite as veterans alongside Reggie Hearn and Cody Demps.
